Huntress Sportfishing

Huntress is a custom built 42' Merritt, known for her ability to raise large fish. Captain Steve Epstein is world traveled, with stops in Australia, Tahiti, Madeira, & Mexico, and has over 30 years in Kona waters. Her tackle includes all Shimano Tiagra reels, 50, 80, & 130 lb class and is tournament ready. Novice and experienced anglers enjoy her giant teak cockpit and air conditioned interior.

The Huntress light Aqua-marine Awlgrip exterior is in pristine condition, as is the entire boat. She was built at the world famous Merritt Boat Yard in Florida. Merritt's Boat Yard is famous for building yacht-quality sport fishing machines with all the agility of the world's finest game fishing boats. The yard's name is synonymous with both quality construction and state-of-the-art game fishing performance, evidenced by the capture of four blue marlin over the 1000 lb. mark. The Captain's largest fish to date is 1400 lbs. caught in 1990 on the Kona Coast.

The Huntress powerful 425 HP Yanmar diesels allow her to back down quickly on that record fish. They are both fuel efficient and dependable. They promise a comfortable ride while trolling or cruising back to the harbor at her 25 knot cruise speed.

Merritt boats have been chosen for their fishing ability by some of the top anglers in the world since the late 50’s. They were built during the hay day of the bluefin tuna fishery in the Bahamas which helped their construction evolution. Top Anglers had them built and top captains who fished them had input into their construction which make them very good fishing boats today. In that era of fishing many developments in boats and tackle that we know today were built into these boats. 50 years of fishing evolution uses the ground work in design still used in tackle today. Tuna towers and the modern day fighting chairs and tuna doors were modeled during this era, changing fishing forever. The Merritts were and big part of the way that modern day boats look and fish. Because of their fish-ability and beauty they are chosen time and time again by anglers and captains that appreciate vintage boats and their history. As a bonus they are wonderful fishing machines and with few modern changes, they continue to catch fish extremely well.
