Capt. Teddy Hoogs
Born and raised in Kona, Teddy was brought up leaning the trade from his well established father, Capt. Peter Hoogs of the Pamela.  Teddy has over 20 years in these calm Kona waters and is highly experienced in the tournament circuit with numerous wins to his credit.  His love of fishing has taken him throughout the world.  His travels include the West Coast of Africa, Portugal, and six black marlin seasons on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.  Teddy is no stranger to big fish and his well-rounded and enthusiastic approach will be sure to suit professional anglers and first timers alike. 

 The Kila Kila's bright white Awlgrip exterior is in pristine condition, as is the entire boat. She was built at the world famous Merritt's Boat Yard in Florida, of epoxy and fiberglass sheathed cold-molded plywood, on mahogany frames and stringers. Merritt's Boat Yard is famous for building yacht-quality sport fishing machines with all the agility of the world's finest game fishing boats. The yard's name is synonymous with both quality construction and state-of-the-art game fishing performance. Her bright varnished teak transom, refrigerated bait boxes, fighting chair and main cabin bulkhead, and her blond-teak covering boards and deck, are just some of the highlights of this classy fishing machine.

Full tuna tower, spacious flybridge and complete electronics add to her fishability. She has been privately owned and operated for most of her life and campaigned as one of the most successful tournament sport fishing boats ever fished.

The Kila Kila's powerful 903 Cummins diesels allow her to back down quickly on that record fish. They are both fuel efficient and dependable and promise a comfortable ride back to the harbor at her 22 knot cruise speed.
